Protein is the building blocks for repair, growth and healing of the body. Every cell in your body is made of protein (amino acids) and these 9 are absolutely required to consume daily for optimal health.

Where can you get these Essential Proteins?

You can get all the essential proteins you need if you eat animal products (example: red meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy). Also, whey protein powder has all the essential amino acids. But do Not use any plant protein powders – the amino acid profile is inadequate!

Dosage: The RDA is 0.8 grams per kilogram of bodyweight. But for Optimal health you need to double the amount to 1.6 grams per kilogram of bodyweight.

American Standard Method: Multiply 0.72 times total pounds of bodyweight for optimal protein intake.

Example: If you weigh 175 lbs, then the math looks like this: 175 x 0.72 = 126 grams of protein required daily. Understand?

Note: You may need to eat even more protein if you're actively exercising, but don't overdo it though. Also, try to eat at least 35 grams of protein in the morning meal – there are some biological benefits of increased repair, growth and healing at that quantity, especially in the morning. The remaining meals throughout the day can be any amount as long as you get your total intake for the day. Got it?

Keep in mind, (with the exception of algae)...

Plants contain only ONE source of the omega 3 fats, which is the ALA. Yes, that's right. Plant foods are missing the other two parts of the omega 3 – the important EPA and the DHA essential fats.

You may have heard that the body can convert ALA into EPA and DHA. Well, that is somewhat true. BUT the conversion amount is very insignificant, and sometimes the conversion does not even happen – nothing! So, that means vegetarians will inevitably result in health issues – unless they eat fish products, or use premium omega-3 oils as listed above. There is no getting around this.

Also, you will need to take-in about 1000 mg of EPA, and 1000 mg of DHA per day, which is equivalent to 2 tablespoons of the Barlean's Total Omega Supplement.

Note: If you eat fatty fish for the omega 3 content – do Not eat "farm raised" fish! It is extremely low in omega 3, because the fish are feed grains. Eat Only "wild caught" fish because they are rich in omega 3. If you buy frozen fish then the words "wild caught" will be written on the label.
